« Pineau des Charentes, a proud heir of cognac, is also produced in the delimited region of Cognac. Rather than fermenting to obtain a wine destined for cognac, the grape juice is « married » directly to the cognac! »
HISTORY
Acccording to legend, a long long time ago, during the grape harvest, a viticulteur accidentally added grape must to a barrel that he believed was empty, but in fact it contained eau de vie. The mixture was duly returned to the cellars. A few years later, the barrel was retrieved and was found to contain the drink that is known as pineau today.
